Cash Application Specialist

Position
Summary:
Receives, reviews, balances and logs cash received; divides into batches and posts cash as appropriate; resolves exceptions in processing daily cash; completes assigned administrative assistance tasks and reports; serves as department liaison to other departments and bank. Ensures compliance with and maintains standard accounting and audit guidelines within cash posting area.
Essential Job functions:
Receives and records payments. Counts cash and checks and deposits live checks into clients' bank accounts via remote deposit scanner. Records and completes cash and deposit information in spreadsheet per client. Posts/balances remits.
Receives and processes phone calls to research payments as needed. Works with Manager Cash Applications for payment corrections.
Assists with front desk coverage and answering phones. Sorts through any loose mail and forwards to appropriate department or contact person. Assist in supply ordering.
Balances cash drawer daily versus online cash posting.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and
Experience:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure / Certifications: None
Experience: Two (2) years' experience in accounting to include cash posting experience. Healthcare experience preferred.Required Knowledge / Skills:
Knowledge of hospital accounting procedures, computers, EDI, and other equipment used in the patient financial services area. Diverse knowledge and experience in utilizing standardized PC software.
General clerical skills and attention to detail are essential.
Excellent communication skills are required.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Medical terminology necessary.
